Me being helped into the Commodore Hotel in Beirut on Aug. 2, 1982 by Vincent Schodolski and Cynthia Nuckolls (who later became my wife). Frank Dougherty is on the left. I had suffered a broken ankle when an Israeli 155mm White Phospherous shell hit the UPI office.
During Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait, 1990-91. Behind me are some of the 550 burning oil wells set afire by retreating Iraqi troops on orders os Saddam Hussein.
